State muaythai boxers win 5 medals at NE Youth Festival
Five boxers representing Nagaland Muaythai Association won five medals- two gold and three bronze, at the Northeast Youth Festival at Dantam, West Sikkim held from January 21 to 24.
Pholin Konyak won a gold medal in the 51 kg category while T. Chingjei won a gold in 47th kg category. The bronze medal winners were Pangmei (43 kg), Nyangka (47kg) and Chingzei (51 kg).
The 11 member state muaythai team consisting of five officials was led by ANAMA president, Takameren, Botovi Achumi as team manager, Moanungsang as assistant team manager, Pangmei as coach and Kennito Chishi as referee and judge.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland Muaythai Association has appreciated the state government, department of youth resources and sports and chief patron of the association and chief secretary, Temjen Toy for their encouragement and support towards the association.
The Nagaland Muaythai Association will also be participating in the upcoming National Muaythai championship to be held at Guwahati, Assam in May.
Nagaland Muaythai Association also appealed to the State government to continue to extend support to the sportspersons in the state, who have the potential to become best sports persons.
