CM to inaugurate astro turf pitch today
Nagaland’s first astro turf football ground will be inaugurated by chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday at I.G Stadium, Kohima.
Chief minister in a tweet said Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima will be the first astro turf football ground in Nagaland and one of the best in the country.
The inaugurating will be followed by an exhibition football match between CM XI and Chief Secretary XI to mark the commemoration of 20th Inter District Football Championship (Dr T Ao trophy) jointly organised by department of youth resources and sports and Nagaland Football Association.
The Chief Minister’s XI team will be led by K.T Sukhalu, IAS (Rtd), advisor, School Education as team manager and Neiphiu Rio as team captain. Opposition party leader TR Zeliang and other members such as Kuzholuzo Nienu, Chotisuh Sazo, Yitachu, Khriehu Liezietsu, Keneizhakho Nakhro etc are also in the team list. Temjem Toy, chief secretary and T John Longkumer, DGP will be the captain and vice captain respectively for Chief Secretary’s XI while Menukhol John, principal secretary, school education and I. Himato Zhimomi, principal secretary, health and family welfare are the team managers.
Meanwhile, the department of youth resources and sports has informed that public transportation has been arranged from High School Junction Kohima to I G Stadium on Monday for nominal charge.
Former Indian national football captain Bhaichung Bhutai will be delivering the Dr T Ao memorial lecture commemorating 100 birth anniversary of Dr. T Ao at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima on Monday evening at 6:00 pm.
