Emraan Hashmi's much-anticipated release Why Cheat India has finally hit the theatrical screens today on January 18. Why Cheat India is based on such a man, one who trumps the daunting entrance examination gateways by sending well-prepared students to answer papers for wealthy aspirants. The characters in this film exposing the scam of forged duplicate examinees don't quite develop into the explosive entities they promise to. So, the story shows how the manipulation in examination is happening at a large scale.

The actors are fine, especially some wonderfully unfamiliar old men, but the film doesn’t use them right. I wish debutant Shreya Dhanwanthary — so entertaining in the web-series Ladies Room — was given more to do than make smitten eyes. The story and concept of Why Cheat India holds a lot of merit, and if the execution was the sharper and steadier, this one had the potential to graduate to another level. What starts out as promising and exciting becomes a confusing mess in the second half which takes quite a while to get resolved.
